First interaction with UN, Conference on 'Protecting the rights of Migrants'. Haven't seen something SO fierce and direct done on a first level political podium a long long time. Refugees, without a legal permission to work, without any kind of benefits, place to live, money to eat or even permission to be at this very moment on Austria's territory stepped up and took the floor to rise the awereness between EU citizens. No matter what we are, rich or poor, educated or not, we at least have the dignity to live under humane conditions. But they? On the best case scenario, when they don't die while fleeing, are forced to live in the detention centres for migrants. Without submitting any crimes, they are yet suffering under inhumane treatment in overcrowded camps, where persecution is normal act of expression. And all they ask, is not be given money, home, benefits etc.,they just want the right to work, legal permission to build up their lives themselves in a secure society, what they don't have back home. Let's not build fortresses but opportunities.
